Laura creates beautiful, unique handmade jewellery to customer specification.
The Brief
Laura was looking for a modern logo, but also mentioned to reference Art Deco which also features in some of her work. She suggested using colours such as grey and blue, but to keep them subtle and not too bright.
The Result
The final logo takes inspiration from Art Deco in it's overall style and small details. With double line features and a reference to precious stones in it's imagery and colour.
The Process
Before starting work on Laura's logo, I gathered several typefaces and created simple Art Deco icons from which to draw inspiration.
The initial concepts presented to the client were grouped into 3 themes as seen below. Using a colour palette limited to grey and a light turquoise. The aim was to achieve a range of ideas to help the client decide what type of form the logo would take. She decided to move forward with the first 2 themes, and so they were developed in the next phase.
The first piece of feedback was to make the colours deeper to stand out more, but maintaining the turquoise from the original ideas. The client felt like the 'LH' was not enough on it's own, so one option was to add the full name to the first theme. The second theme got several iterations; exploring simplified versions, different border styles, and text styles and weights.
